BISMARCK – A woman with extensive library experience in Illinois is the new director of the North Dakota State Library.

Soucie most recently served as library director for the Three Rivers Public Library District in Channahon, Ill. Prior to that, she was director of the Wilmington (Ill.) Public Library District. She also served as an instructor in the library technical assistant program at Joliet (Ill.) Junior College and also has worked as a middle school librarian and resource center director.

Soucie earned her master’s degree in library and information science from Dominican University in Lake Forest, Ill., and her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University.

The State Library provides library services to patrons with unique needs, those without direct local library service, the blind and physically handicapped, and the clientele of state-supported institutions.
