Two women die in Saturday crash near Hillsboro
Two women died Saturday after they were ejected from a vehicle that crashed near Hillsboro, N.D., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 9:20 p.m. 12 miles northeast of Hillsboro from the N.D./Minn. line.
The patrol said the women were passengers in a 2014 Dodge Challenger that was westbound on Traill County Road 17. The vehicle left the blacktop road, went into the right ditch, struck a driveway and began to roll. The vehicle then struck a second approach and came to rest upright.
A 51-year-old man from Nielsville, Minn., the driver of the vehicle, was wearing a seat belt and was injured. He was airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, the patrol said.
The passengers, a 23-year-old Sharon, N.D., woman and a 21-year-old Red Lake Falls, Minn., were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said. Their seat belt use was unknown. The driver and passengers were not immediately identified pending notification of relatives.
The vehicle was totaled.
The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
