Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Fargo

FARGO — A 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a shooting Thursday night in north Fargo, police say.

Sgt. Carlos Nestler said police received a call at 8:36 p.m. about a disturbance in a duplex. When officers arrived, they found a man believed to be in his late 20s in the house who appeared to have at least one gunshot wound, he said.

Officers attempted CPR and the man was taken to Sanford Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Nestler said.

Christopher Paul Hampton, 24, was detained for questioning after being found near the scene and was later arrested.

Lt. Joel Vettel said in a news release that Hampton lived at the same address as the victim, whose name was being withheld pending notification of his family.
