DUI charge in Cavalier County crash fatality

The driver in a late Friday Cavalier County crash that killed a passenger was cited with DUI, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 11:45 p.m. when Heinrich Penner Fehr, 31, Walhalla, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet K1500 pickup east on 105th Street Northeast, a gravel road approximately 5 miles west of Walhalla. Fehr failed to negotiate a right-hand curve at the intersection of 121st Avenue and 105th Street Northeast, when the truck crossed the road into the ditch and overturned.

A 33-year-old Walhalla, N.D., male passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the patrol said. Fehr was transported by Cavalier Ambulance to Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier with injuries.

Pembina County Sheriff's Office, Cavalier County Sheriff's Office and Walhalla Fire Department also responded to the scene.
