Flash flood watch issued for Stutsman, other counties

A flash flood watch has been issued for northwest and central North Dakota this afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service stated.

"Slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall are expected across northwest and central North Dakota this afternoon through this evening," the release states. "Runoff from the heavy rainfall may l ead to flash flooding... especially in low lying areas... and locations of poor drainage."

As of 11:45 a.m., the watch was set to be in effect from 1 p.m. today to 1 a.m. early Wednesday morning.

It includes the following counties: Bottineau, McHenry, Pierce, Renville, Rollete, Ward, Burleigh, Emmons, Kidder, McLean, Sheridan, Wells, and Dickey, Foster, La Moure, Logan, McIntosh and Stutsman.
