Meghan Ford, Calli Lynch, Connie Contreras and Charlie Foster were selected athletes of the week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.
Ford, a freshman on the Blue Jay girls cross country team, garnered allstate honors by finishing seventh out of 173 runners at the state meet. She covered the 5,000-meter course in Valley City in a season-best 18 minutes, 38 seconds.
Lynch, a sophomore on the Blue Jay girls swimming and diving team, qualified for state in the 50 freestyle at the Davies Invite.
Contreras, a senior on the Jimmie women’s soccer team from Gilroy, Calif., scored once during a 6-1 win over Presentation College and twice during a 3-1 victory over Viterbo University.
Foster, a senior on the Jimmies men’s soccer team from Sutton, England, scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute of the Jimmies’ 5-2 victory over Presentation College.
A meeting for parents of Jamestown High School wrestlers will be held tonight (Nov. 2) at 7 p.m. in the JHS commons.
Jamestown Parks and Recreation is organizing a winter grades 1-4 girls volleyball program.
The six-week program will be held Saturday mornings in Dec. (2nd, 9th, 16th) and Jan. (6th, 13th, 20th) at the Two Rivers Activity Center. Registrations have been distributed to schools and are also available at www.jamestownparksandrec.com or at 1002 2nd Ave. SE.
