Nancy Christensen

Nancy Eileen (Roth) Christensen, 62, of Verona, ND passed away on Monday December 4th, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Nancy was born in LaMoure, ND, the fourth daughter of Charles and Helen (Klima) Roth. She grew up on a farm northwest of Verona and attended Verona Public School, graduating in 1973. After graduation, she attended and graduated from NDSSS in Wahpeton. In 1975 Nancy began working at BCBS, where she was employed for 2 years. On October 29th, 1977, Nancy married the love of her life, Thomas Christensen at St. John's Lutheran Church Verona. After leaving BCBS, she took a position at the First State Bank of LaMoure, which she enjoyed for over 30 years before retiring in 2016. They made their life on a family farm and welcomed three daughters; Tracie, Cassie, and Mandi. In 2009, she welcomed her first son-in-law, Cory. Followed a few years later by her precious Sophie Alexis and Eli Thomas, who gave her the title of "Nana" and instantly became her world.

Nancy always knew her purpose in life was to have and care for a family. NOTHING came before her husband, children, or grandchildren. She never missed one recital, basketball game or event that her kids were involved in. If you didn't find her at any of her kid's activities, chances are you would find her with her nose in a cookbook searching for new recipes. As one of her favorite past times, she enjoyed working in her yard, spending hours on the lawnmower, until everything was "just right". Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and if you asked her, there is no such thing as too many Christmas lights or decorations. This woman could do it all and never once let her health/illness slow her down. She never wanted to be defined by her diabetes and she lived everyday to its fullest. She was simply the best wife, mother, nana, aunt and PERSON in all our lives and she will be deeply missed.

She and Tom never sat out one dance in their 40 years of marriage and she went thru life with the motto, "you can do anything you set your mind to." She reminded her family of this daily, never letting them give up, and neither did she. She was loved more than words can ever say and touched the lives of so many.

Nancy is survived by her husband Tom; daughters Tracie Christensen, Fargo, Cassie Christensen, Verona and Mandi (Cory) Anderson, Verona; grandchildren Sophie and Eli; numerous in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen Roth, three sisters, Mary Ann (Larry) Jones, Carol (Doug) Smith, and Barbara (Phil) Marple, her grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Verona, ND. Her funeral will be Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery near Verona. Memories may be shared and viewed by visiting
