Arland Headland 76, Desert Aire, WA died March 1, 2018 at Chaplaincy Hospice House, Kennewick, WA. Arland was born in Dickey County ND, the son of Gladys and Axel Headland. He grew up on the family farm near Montpelier. He attended county schools until his family moved to Jamestown when he was 13. He attended UND for a year then worked at the ND State Hospital for two years. He married Patti Reinke on Dec 19, 1961. The summer of '62 they moved to Seattle where he worked at U S Plywood for 5 years. In '67 he started as a switchman on the Great Northern Railway and retired from BNSF as a yardmaster in 2002. After retirement they moved to Desert Aire, WA. In his lifetime he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. His retirement was busy with golf, being on the board of the Sagebrush Senior Center and local Citizens Patrol. He is survived by his wife Patti, Desert Aire, WA; two sons, David and Greggory, both of Seattle; three grandsons, one great grandson and one sister, Helen (Bill) Wolf, Plymouth, MN. He was preceded in death by his twin brother and sister, Melvin Headland and Margurite Toay.
