Blue Jay Roundup: Volleyball, tennis

The Jamestown High School volleyball team went 1-4 over the weekend competing at the Southwest Minnesota Challenge in Marshall, Minn.

The Blue Jays topped Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 2-1 on Friday after falling 2-0 to New Prague to begin competition. On Saturday, the Jays fell to Elk River 2-1, Waconia 2-0 and LeSueur-Henderson 2-1 in the 23rd-place match.

The Blue Jays (4-6, 3-2 WDA) return to WDA action Tuesday at Bismarck St. Mary's (6-6, 3-2 WDA).

Elk River (Minn.) def. Jamestown 2-1 (23-25, 25-21, 17-15).

Waconia (Minn.) def. Jamestown 2-0 (25-21, 25-10).

23rd PLACE: LeSueur-Henderson (Minn.) def. Jamestown 2-1 (17-25, 25-16, 15-7).

Tennis falls to Mustangs

The Jamestown High School boys tennis team suffered a setback Saturday at West Fargo Sheyenne.

The Mustangs swept the Blue Jays 9-0. Jamestown was rolling heading into the competition with wins against Mandan, Bismarck and Valley City.

Jamestown (4-3, 2-0 WDA) is set to host a non-conference 4-3 dual against Bismarck on Monday at Bolinger Courts. Matches begin at 4:15 p.m.
