George Schlager

George Edward Schlager was born on June 29, 1945 in Robinson, ND, the son of Edward & Evelyn (Madson) Schlager. He passed August 29, 2017 in Tuscon, AZ. George graduated from Jamestown High School, and attended Valley City & Fargo colleges where he completed his Teaching and Masters degree. On August 29, 1964 he married Carol (Loose). They celebrated 53 years of marriage. They raised 2 sons, Shane (Michelle) of Chadron, Nebraska, and Dana, Tuscon, AZ. George's teaching careers (including Drivers Ed & Wrestling coach) (taking his Belcourt team to 1st in state in 1971) led him to Belcourt, ND, Chadron, Nebraska, Grand Junction, Colorado, Tuscon, AZ. George's love of teaching and mentoring of young adults was his true calling. He was well respected in all of his employments and left many marks on people he encouraged with his wit and compassion. George was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and a wonderful host to all who passed his doorstep. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Keith & Robert Schlager, and many Aunts, Uncles, In-Laws, Nieces & Nephews, Cousins & other loved relatives. George is survived by his wife, Carol, sons, Shane & Dana, brothers Marlin (Deaon) Schlager, Terry (Char) Schlager, sisters, Cindy (Doug) Wold, Roxanne Hurley, Tammie (Brent) Stein, all of Jamestown. George will be deeply missed by all who knew him. There will be a Celebration of Life, date pending.
