Bravo to the turnout for JRFD's fishing derby

The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos this week:

* Bravo to the turnout at the Jamestown Rural Fire Department’s Fishing Derby. The annual event, held Feb. 23, brought in about 800 anglers, who helped raise funds for JRFD’s equipment needs.

* Bravo to the North Dakota Treasurer’s Office for having more information online on how much money is in various funds. The “Government Funds” section of the treasurer’s office’s website provides information on 33 state funds and other accounts. More funds, including the state’s pension trust fund and insurance fund, will be added in the future, state Treasurer Kelly Schmidt said.

* Bravo to John Dingell, Michigan congressman who has served longer in Congress than any other person in history. Dingell, 87, announced this week that he will not seek re-election for a 31st term.

* Bravo to Anders Habhegger, the first baby born to a pastor serving Canaan Moravian Church in rural Cass County in 40 years. The Rev. Beth Rohn-Habhegger, Anders’ mother, was the last baby born to a pastor serving the church 40 years ago.
