Take time to vote today

Today voters will decide several Jamestown races and measures. If you haven’t cast your ballot through early voting or absentee, take the time to vote today.

Early voting has been low in Stutsman County, and we hope turnout improves during today’s state and county primary election. Fewer than 2,000 votes were expected to be cast.

Today Jamestown voters will choose among candidates for School Board, mayor, City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission. They will also decide whether to publish the Jamestown Public School District minutes and whether to change the filing deadline for initiated measure petitions from 90 days to 120 days before a statewide election and requiring challenges related to measure petitions be filed no later than 75 days before the election.

With a two-sided ballot, note that one side is for the statewide primary election. On that side, you’ll need to vote for candidates in one political party. On the other side is the no-party ballot, where you can cast your votes for whatever candidate you wish. The state races and county races will ultimately be decided in November.

Voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today in Stutsman County at the Jamestown Civic Center, Pingree Community Center, Kensal Memorial Hall and Medina Memorial Hall. Be sure to bring your photo ID with you.

Take the time to cast your ballot.
