What We Think: Bravo to Miss America

The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos and a buffalo chip this week:

* Bravo to Miss America Cara Mund for promoting Make-A-Wish, which grants wishes to children facing critical illness and their families. Mund was in Jamestown a week ago, appearing at the Denim & Diamonds Gala which raised money for Make-A-Wish and the JakeStar program.

* Buffalo chip to the closing of the office of the North Dakota Coalition for Homeless People. Budget cuts prompted the closure, although board members said they will continue to lobby and advocate for the program and hire a manager for financial duties. There are about 55 groups who are part of the coalition.

* Bravo to Catherine Lein of Jamestown, who administered CPR after Pat John fell down the stairs at Frontier Fort on Jan. 12. And bravo to Jamestown police who also administered CPR upon their arrival and paramedics who took over John’s care when they arrived.

Editorials are the opinion of Jamestown Sun management and the newspaper’s editorial board.
