Lawton Allen of Pingree-Buchanan High School and Gackle's Megan Kleingartner have signed with the University of Jamestown.

Allen is joining the UJ basketball team. The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal per game for the Medina-Pingree-Buchanan Thunder last season.

Allen earned all-District 6 team honors. He is the son of Marvin and Emily Allen.

Kleingartner has signed with the Jimmie women's track and field team.

Kleingartner placed fifth in the shot put at the Class B state meet last month in Bismarck with a throw of 37 feet, 5 inches. Kleingartner was a member of the Kidder County track and field team.

"Megan is a good student and has an infectious positive attitude and personality," UJ women's track and field coach Jim Clark said. "Megan will fit in well and will be a perfect addition to coach Lemm's throwing team.

"It will be fun to see her develop as a thrower for the Jimmies."

The daughter of Steve and Heidi Kleingartner, she plans to study business management.
