Century defeats Jamestown for Class A volleyball crown

Jimmie hockey sweeps Utah

The No. 4-ranked University of Jamestown men's hockey team leveled its season record at 5-5-0 with a two-game sweep at University of Utah on Friday and Saturday.

The Jimmies defeated the Skatin' Utes 4-1 and 6-0. Destin Robinson scored three of the Jimmies' 10 goals and goalie Tyson Brouwer earned the Saturday shutout with 18 saves.

Jamestown hosts Midland University this Friday and Saturday at John L. Wilson Arena.

Jimmie XC competes

University of Jamestown's Matthew Young (26:09.35) captured second in the men's 8K at the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton, S.D., on Saturday. Donavan Moser (28:33.42) captured 46th for the Jimmies, helping UJ (179) to eighth out of 10 teams.

The Jimmies' Amber Posner (20:21.16), Allison Foster (20:49.31) and Lindi Chadwick (21:06.23) paced the Jimmie women to a fourth-place finish (138) out of nine teams in the 5K. The trio finished 17th, 23rd and 26th, respectively.

The Jimmies host the NSAA conference meet at Parkhurst Cross Country Course on Nov. 3.

Jimmie soccer splits in S.D.

The Jimmie women's soccer team (11-4-1) defeated Waldorf University 3-1 Saturday in Iowa.

Connie Contreras, Briana DeStefano and Nicole Bologna all scored goals. Goalkeeper Lauren Sayler made three saves.

The Jimmie men's soccer team (4-6-1) fell to Waldorf 1-0. Goalkeeper Jake Askew made seven saves for the Jimmies.

Jamestown hosts Presentation College Wednesday at 5 p.m and 7 p.m. at Rotary Field.
