Nine area youth were winners at the K of C Free Throw Championship on Saturday, Dec. 17. The Council Level contest featured 20 participants. Winners advance to the District Level in Valley City on Jan. 15 at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. Winners in the boys 10-14-year-old category were: Kamden Herzig, Dalton Lamp, Max Fronk, Kade Schumacher. Girls winners ages 10-14 were: Edie Hegerle, Breanna Oettle, Zereta Gahner, Kyra Vogel. Nolan Schmidt of Jamestown has qualified for the Minnesota Vikings punt, pass and kick championship in the 6-7-year-old division. The competition will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Schmidt previously won the Jamestown competition (167 feet) and sectional competition in Carrington (158 feet).                                                 Submitted photo

The project to install new dugouts at Jack Brown Stadium has begun. The ballboy cage along the first base line dugout has been removed. Also, the chicken wire behind both dugouts have been removed. Completion of the new dugouts is expected to be done in time for next season.
