U14 team rolls past Valley City

The Jamestown 14U softball team opened its season with 20-2 and 10-2 wins over Valley City on Monday night.

Olivia Nihill spun a no-hitter in the opener, allowing just a pair of unearned runs.

Jamestown had eight hits with Lexi Paul and Courtney Peterson collecting two each. Chloe Crabtree doubled in the win, while Mariah Wick, Molly Fritz and Joey Kleinsasser also had knocks.

Nihill and Hannah Schiele scored three runs each, while Wick, Paul, Morgan Well and Kleinsasser touched home twice. Amber Buckness, Peterson, Crabtree, Soulis and Halle Uehran also scored.

In Game 2, Crabtree went the route in the circle to get the win. She also scored a run.

Hits went to Soulis, Kleinsasser, Fritz and Kelsey Goter, who doubled.

Soulis and Megan Scott scored twice. Uehran, Nihill, Kleinsasser, Buckness, Fritz and Crabtree also crossed home.

Jamestown is back in action on Monday against Casselton in Moorhead.
