As Thursday’s game wore on, Josh Seibel grew stronger.

The Bismarck right-hander sat down eight of his last 10 batters in the Governors’ 10-0 seven-inning win over West Fargo at the Class AA state Legion tournament at Jack Brown Stadium.

“I hit my spots probably the best I have all year,” Seibel said. “That really helped me out there.”

Top-seeded Bismarck (37-8) plays Fargo Post 2 at noon Saturday with a trip to the championship game on the line.

“We’re sure happy with this one,” Bismarck coach Mike Skytland said. “This is where we want to be, but it’s a new game every time. We’ll get ready for the next one.”

Seibel made sure of that, surrendering just four hits in seven innings, though he did walk six and hit one. He had three strikeouts and pitched well when it mattered, as West Fargo (23-17) stranded 10 runners.

“He sure made pitches,” Skytland said. “A couple of times with runners on, he really got key outs. That led to him relaxing more. He got stronger the last three innings or so.”

Seibel also got it done from the plate, hammering a solo shot as part of a three-run sixth inning that brought the 10-run rule into effect.

“They came ready to play and I’m not sure we were,” said West Fargo coach Bill Ibach, whose team plays tonight at 8 p.m. vs. the Dickinson-Jamestown winner. “We just never got out of the starting box.”

West Fargo’s Camran Bonnema was pulled after three innings, surrendering five runs — two earned — on five hits, three walks and three hit batters.

“Bismarck put some pretty good swings on him and some good at-bats on him that built up his pitch count,” Ibach said. “He handled it well. He realized he didn’t have his good stuff. He was just trying to get through it.”

Fargo Post 2 7, Grand Forks 0

Andrew Penney hit two home runs and Jake Salentine pitched nine innings as Fargo advanced with a 7-0 win over Grand Forks late Thursday night at Jack Brown Stadium.

Penney hit a three-run shot in the third inning and a solo shot in the fifth for Post 2, which plays Bismarck on Saturday at noon.

Jake Salentine got the win, going all nine for the shutout.

Grand Forks starter Ty Straus took the loss.

Loser-out Dickinson 10, Williston 0 (8)

Alex Huschka was brilliant, pitching a four-hit shutout as Dickinson (24-18) ended Williston’s season in eight innings.

The lanky right-hander went the distance, striking out nine. He did not walk a batter, retiring his final 10 hitters. Dylan Skabo led the Roughriders at the plate, smashing a home run as part of a five-run seventh.

Trenten Hove was dealt the loss for the Keybirds (20-31).

Minot 10, Mandan 0 (8)

Alex Mack and Grant Larson belted homers and Demitry Zafra twirled a one-hit shutout as Minot eliminated Mandan in eight innings.

Zafra threw 105 pitches for Minot (27-22), which plays Fargo Post 400 at 11 a.m. today in loser-out play. The Vistas were paced by leadoff Chandler Jacob’s 3-for-4 performance.

Parker Harm took the loss for Mandan (20-26).
