Badal to retire in February

Amateur baseball, racing washed out

Children play in a massive pool of water in right field at Jack Brown Stadium on Saturday.

The afternoon downpour in Jamestown washed out the final game-and-a-half of the Class AA state amateur baseball tournament. Also, races at Jamestown Speedway on Saturday were canceled.

The Jamestown Greyhounds and Bismarck Brewers posted wins earlier on Saturday in the 'AA' tournament . At the time of the deluge, Cando was leading the Jamestown Tarno Townies 3-0 in the third inning. Casselton and Valley City were scheduled to play the final game Saturday.

Jack Brown Stadium took on severe water, most specifically down the first base and right field lines when the storm prevented the large tarp from being positioned across the entire infield.

No timeline for resuming games on Sunday has been determined.

Races at Jamestown Speedway were called off long before any action began.
