Elks, Merchants advance to Triple A championship game, racing washed out

The Jamestown Elks and Jamestown Merchants will play on Sunday for the Class AAA state amateur baseball tournament championship.

The Merchants beat the Fargo Expos 6-3 to finish 2-0 in pool play.

The Elks beat the Fargo-Moorhead Bulldogs on a soggy Saturday afternoon, 8-4. They also won both of their pool-play games.

Christian Hackworth tossed a complete game on the mound for the Elks. Derek Parks went 4-for-4 offensively.

Sunday's championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jack Brown Stadium.

Also Saturday, the rain washed out racing for the second straight week at Jamestown Speedway.
