Region 3 tournament set for today

The Class B boys Region 3 basketball tournament scheduled to begin today, March 5, at the Jamestown Civic Center has been postponed.

The tournament quarterfinals have been tentatively rescheduled for today, March 6. State tournament seeding will be announced on statewide television at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 in between championship games at the Class A state basketball tournament in Fargo. See the scoreboard for tournament pairings.

Region 3 Tournament

Quarterfinals — Tuesday, March 6, 3 p.m.

Semifinals — Thursday, March 8, 6 p.m.

3rd place, Championship — Friday, March 9, 6 p.m.

Ludlow NSAA's weekly player

University of Jamestown senior infielder Tyler Ludlow was named the North Star Athletic Association baseball player of the week.

The Port Orchard, Wash., native drove in 15 runs during the Jimmies' 6-1 road trip, including a grand slam against Evangel, Mo. Ludlow batted .435 for the week (10-for-23), with a pair of doubles, two homers, six walks, five runs scored and a slugging percentage of .783.

Jimmies' champions of character

University of Jamestown's Hannah Christenson (women's indoor track and field), Noah Knutson (men's indoor track and field), Bryn Woodside (women's basketball) and Sam Johnson (men's basketball), were recipients of the North Star Athletic Association Champions of Character award for the winter sports season.

Each winter sports head coach nominated a recipient for the NSAA Champions of Character award. Through the Champions of Character program, the NAIA and the North Star schools provide training for student-athletes and professional development for coaches and staff by emphasizing the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

Each member institution has a team member that best represents these core values.
