Blue Jays ranked fourth

Jamestown High School moved up from fifth to fourth in the latest Class AA football statewide media poll released Tuesday.

The Blue Jays (1-1) defeated Watford City 47-6 last Friday on the road and will host third-ranked Central Cass (2-0) this Friday, Sept. 7, at Ernie Gates Field beginning at 7 p.m.

Carrington (2-0) is holding down the No. 2 spot in the Class A poll, while Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter (3-0) and New Rockford-Sheyenne (3-0) are holding firm at fourth and fifth, respectively, in the state 9-man poll. The weekly polls are voted on by members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Jimmie women's soccer ranked

University of Jamestown women's soccer went from receiving three points to 90 in the latest NAIA women's soccer coaches' top 25 poll.

The Jimmies (3-1) are ranked 25th in the country in the poll released Tuesday. Jamestown was on the outside looking in when the preseason top 25 poll was released Aug. 14, one of two teams garnering three votes.

The Jimmies' lone loss to date was a 1-0 match to 13th-ranked Columbia College (Mo.) on Aug. 31. The Jimmies are at fourth-ranked Vanguard University (Calif.) and 24th-ranked The Master's University (Calif.) on Sept 7-8.

Jimmies drop from top 25

University of Jamestown women's volleyball dropped out of the NAIA coaches' top 25 poll on Tuesday. The Jimmies (6-1) were ranked No. 25 in the preseason poll and currently received 53 votes, which would rank them 30th.

Jamestown will play its home opener Friday hosting Dickinson State at 7 p.m.

Volleyball meeting planned

The Blue Jay Junior Volleyball Inc. annual member meeting will be held on Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus building (519 1st Ave South). The annual player/parent meeting will be held later this year.
