Jimmies conclude Yellowjacket Fall Invite

Body:

University of Jamestown freshman Tate Olson fired on even-par 72 Tuesday, leading the Jimmie men's golf team to a second-place finish at the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational in Billings, Mont.

Olson placed third overall in the three-round tournament with a 2-under-par 214, highlighted by Monday's second-round 68 at Lake Hills Golf Course. The Jimmies finished at 1 under as a team (863) but couldn't chase down NCAA Division II Concordia University (Ore.), which turned in a combined 8-under 856.

Concordia's Jaxson Daskalos (9 under) and Riley Killip (7 under) placed 1-2, respectively. Daskalos' 66 during Monday's opening round was the best 18 holes of the tournament.

The Jimmies' Jacob Rice and Daniel Mahlke tied for sixth at even par (216). Mahlke shot a 1 under on Tuesday, while Rice turned in a round at even par.

UJ's Austin Rene stormed into the top 10 on the final day with an even-par 72 and finishing at 3 over. Rene led the Jimmies with 13 birdies over the three rounds, while Rice tied the tournament lead in pars at 37.

The Jimmies' Paige Argent kept pace during the women's second round on Tuesday. Argent began the day tied for third individually and that's where she'd stay, shooting a 7-over-par 79 on day 2. Argent was 13 over for the tournament with four birdies and 18 pars.

The Jimmie women finished third of five teams at plus 90 (666), 45 strokes back of Concordia (Org.) for the team title.

UJ's Jenna Knutson backed up an 81 with an 83 on Tuesday to finish ninth overall. Izzy Marchino, golfing as an individual for Jamestown, moved up the leaderboard five spots from 15th to 10th on Day 2 with an 80, finishing at 22 over for the tournament.

Up next for the Jimmies, they'll host the Jamestown Fall Invite at the Jamestown Country Club on Sept. 16-17.
