Optimist Club honors athletes
Hannah Schiele, Kaitlin Mullowney, Emma Keller and Tyson Brouwer were named Optimist Club Athletes of the Week.
Schiele, a senior on the Blue Jays gymnastics team, placed on the vault, beam and floor during the state tournament last weekend, Feb. 24.
Mullowney, a Jamestown High School senior figure skater, placed first in compulsory, artistic and freeskate at a competition in Minot.
Keller, a senior on the Jimmie softball team from Poulsbo, Washington, went 6-for-10 in a doubleheader with Dickinson State over the weekend. Overall, she's is hitting .532 with a 13-game hitting streak. Keller is leading NAIA with 22 RBIs.
Brouwer, a sophomore from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, made 74 saves in a pair of losses to Minot State over the weekend.
Fishing tourney set for June
The Dakota Anglers 42nd Annual walleye-northern tournament is scheduled for June 2-3 at the Jamestown Reservoir.
The entry fee is $200 per team and includes a conservation fee. The tournament is open to the first 76 two-person teams to enter and will pay the first 20 places. Over $12,000 will be paid out in cash prizes.
