Jays qualify for finals

Annie Hart and Paige Peterson will have a busy day in Grand Forks today.

Both Jamestown High School swimmers qualified for the finals in two individual events at the state meet on Friday.

Hart will swim in the ‘A’ finals of both the 100 backstroke and 50 free. Hart posted the fourth-best time in the 100 backstroke in the prelims on Friday, touching in 59.23 seconds.

In the 50 free, Hart’s 25.25 was the seventh-quickest. Peterson’s personal-best time of 25.81 ranked her 14th.

In the 100 free, Peterson, a senior, secured the final spot in the ‘B’ final, getting to the line in 57.40.

LeMae Turk will swim in the ‘B’ final of the 100 butterfly. The freshman posted a time of 57.40. She’s an alternate in the 200 individual medley, coming in 18th (2:23.07).

The Blue Jays’ best chance in the relays will likely come in the 200 medley as Hart, Taylor Bradley, Turk and Peterson are seeded seventh.
