G.F. tops Blue Jays

John M. Steiner / The Sun Jamestown’s Chaya Joersz fights Grand Forks’ Lexi O’Halloran for the puck Friday night at Wilson Arena.

Jamestown put a scare into Grand Forks in the first period.

But a four-goal second period helped the KnightRiders secure a 7-2 girls hockey win Friday at Wilson Arena.

Brooke Berry was a big part of the assault for Grand Forks, scoring two goals and assisting on another.

Jamestown’s Sydney Soulis scored just one minute into the game to give the home team an early lead. Grand Forks’ Peyton LeNoir answered five minutes later.

The onslaught in the second period gave the KnightRiders all the distance they needed.

Jamestown’s Brenna Pritchert scored in the third period to round out Jamestown’s scoring. Elly Milender assisted on both goals, and Torri Kamlitz assisted on the second goal.

Jamestown’s Nicole Mayland had 44 saves, as Grand Forks won the shots battle 51-16.

The Blue Jays go to Devils Lake on Tuesday.
