Seasons end for Jimmies, Blue Jays
The season came to an end on Thursday for the Jimmie and Blue Jay basketball teams.
The Jimmie women struggled from start to finish in a disappointing 76-54 to Cardinal Stritch, Wis., which was a No. 5 seed in the NAIA national tournament.
The Jimmies were a No. 1 seed in the 32-team field, but made just 19 of 62 shots in the Sweet 16 round game. Hannah Steele was the lone Jamestown player in double figures with 11 points. She also passed out seven assists.
The Jimmies (27-4) finished with 27 wins for the third straight season. It was also the third straight year they lost in the second round at nationals in Sioux City, Iowa.
In Minot, the Blue Jays suffered a stinging 64-60 loss to Bismarck Century in loser-out play at the Class A tournament.
McKayla Orr paced Jamestown with 22 points. The Blue Jays finished the season at 12-12.
