Jimmie women post victory

Valley City State Tuesday night, but had trouble finding enough juice against the 7-1 Jimmies.

"That happens sometimes," Graupe said. "To play two good teams on a midweek trip and get a

split, we're happy with that."

It was the first game in 11 days that counted for the Jimmies, who played Minot State and

Augustana (S.D.) recently and play another tough D-II team Saturday at Concordia-St. Paul.

"Those games are so good for us," Jimmie coach Greg Ulland said. "They're tough for our kids

because they're competitive and they want to win, but regardless of the outcome they'll help us

in the end."

The Jimmies surrendered just 20 first-half points Wednesday night and 27 over the final 20

"Their man defense was tough," Graupe said. "We missed some shots we'd normally make, but you

have to give them credit, too."

The Jimmies weren't exactly crisp offensively, but consecutive 3-pointers from Carly Jensen and

Hannah Steele pushed the lead over 10 for the first time with 13 minutes to play and it grew

fromm there.

"They threw some different things at us and we struggled at times," Ulland said. "They have a

nice team. We feel pretty good about this win, because they've done some really nice things so

far this season."
