Jimmies rout Roosevelt, advance to Sweet 16

The Jimmies are headed back to the Sweet 16 at the NAIA national tournament.

The University of Jamestown never trailed, routing Roosevelt, Ill., 80-59 in opening-round acton on Thursday in Sioux City, Iowa.

Megan Pold (12), Jessica Buck (10) and Carly Jensen (10) led a balanced scoring effort for the 27-3 Jimmies.

Jamestown jumped out to a 12-1 lead and never looked back.

Roosevelt started the game 0-for-12 from the field and never recovered.

The Jimmies play Friday at 5:15 p.m. on Friday against either St. Ambrose, Iowa or Cardinal-Stritch, Wis. The Jimmies beat St. Ambrose earlier in the season.

The 27 wins tie a school record for single-season victories, and Jamestown advanced to the Sweet 16 for the third straight year.
