Weather woes

Spring football for the Jimmies is not the only sport impacted by the blizzard earlier this week.

The Jimmie softball and baseball teams had their Wednesday doubleheaders at Dickinson State postponed. No makeup date has been set.

Both teams were scheduled to host Valley City State on Saturday and Sunday, but that will not happen.

Softball coach Kevin Gall said his team hopes to play Sunday in Valley City, although that remains up in the air. They did add a doubleheader for Tuesday here against Minnesota State-Moorhead, field-conditions permitting.

Tom Hager’s baseball team is working on firming up a weekend schedule with games hopefully to be played somewhere, but not in Jamestown. A decision is expected today.

The Jimmie track team’s first outdoor meet was supposed to be Friday in Bismarck, but it has been cancelled.

Same is  true for Dustin Jensen’s Jimmie golf team’s meet in Dickinson on Sunday and Monday. That meet has been pushed back one week.

The Jimmies were supposed to host a meet April 13-14 in Jamestown. Even with the snow, Jensen is hopeful they’ll be able to still host that meet a week later, beginning on Easter Monday.

Warmer weather is forecasted for next week.

Jamestown High School is scheduled to compete in a meet Saturday at the Bismarck Community Bowl. No word on its status.
