New Town standout signs with Jimmies

Symbria Bell, a two-time runner-up in the Class B state cross country meet, has signed with the University of Jamestown.

Bell, from New Town, N.D., placed second in 2009 and 2012 and has placed in the state meet six times in her stellar career. She’s also been sixth in the 3,200-meter run at the state meet and was eighth in the mile and 800 in 2011.

Bell also has excelled academically. Her presentation at the state science fair was chosen to be presented at the national fair in Los Angeles.

“I feel very fortunate that Symbria has chosen Jamestown to continue her education. She is an outstanding student,” UJ women’s coach Jim Clark said. “Symbria will be such an amazing addition to our distance crew. Not only can she run with the best of them, but she has an engaging personality and should fit in immediately.”

She is the daughter of Whitney and Tarina Bell. She plans to study business or accounting.
