Badal to retire in February

Contreras signs with Jimmie soccer

Connie Contreras, of Gilroy, California, will join the University of Jamestown women’s soccer team in 2014.

Contreras was a four-year varsity starter and three-time all-league player in her home state. She was named midfielder of the year in 2013, and she also played club soccer for Santa Clara Sporting and Orchard Valley, two highly competitive northern California clubs.

“Connie is going to bring a great work ethic along with a very skilled technical ability that will immediately add to the team,” Jimmie women’s soccer coach Nick Becker said. “She is not only going to provide extra attacking ability, but she will also bring intelligence in her playing style to the field.

“We are excited to have Connie become part of the Jimmie team and we look forward to her great attitude both on and off the field.”

Contreras plans to major in nursing. She is the daughter of Luis and Theresa Contreras.
