Jimmies’ Goff earns top academic honor

University of Jamestown sophomore Samantha Goff has been named an NAIA academic All-American.

Goff, from Danvers, Minn., qualified for the NAIA national cross country meet and the indoor and outdoor track and field championships this past season for the Jimmies. Last month in at outdoor nationals in Gulf Shores, Alabama, she qualified for the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Academically, she posted a grade point average of 3.95 as a triple major in accounting, business administration and management information systems. She was one of just 20 student-athletes honored with the award in cross country and track and field.

Goff ranks in the top 10 program history in 3,000 steeplechase (No. 3), indoor mile (No. 5), 1,000 indoor (No. 6) and 1,500 (No. 8).

She earned All-American honors at the national indoor meet as part of the Jimmies’ distance medley Relay team.

Earlier in June, Goff and teammate Nikki Iverson, a Jamestown High School graduate, were voted onto the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

The Jimmies excelled as a team academically.

Goff and Iverson were two of the 15 members of the Jimmie women’s track and field named to the dean’s list.

The 33-member team, which is coached by Jim Clark, posted a grade point average of 3.251 for the spring semester.
