Flyberg hits 1,000 points in loss

Linton-HMB’s McKenna Flyberg hit a career milestone in Steele on Friday night.

The senior forward drained a 3-pointer in the second period to eclipse 1,000 career points, as the Lions fell to Kidder County 47-39.

Flyberg accounted for Linton-HMB’s only two points of the first period — a pair of free throws — as the Pirates were able to jump out to a 14-2 lead to start the second. Morgan Rohrich splashed in a pair of treys in the game for Kidder County, and she led the team with 13 points.

Flyberg finished with 16 points and has a total of 1,011 points so far in her high school career. She is only the eighth Linton girls basketball player to achieve 1,000 points in school history.

The Pirates moved to 14-3 on the season, while the Lions fell to 10-6.
