The Jamestown High School gymnastics team followed its best mark with its second-best score of the season.

The Blue Jays placed second with a score of 138.625 at the six-team Feb 7 Team Meet in Fargo on Friday.

“It was a legit score,” said coach Dave Tews. “It was good, but still a situation where we can do things a little better, but we’re continuing to go in the right direction it seems.”

Entries were limited to six per team in each event in the meet, which featured all five East Region teams and the Blue Jays.

Erin Hillerud’s 35.675 was good for third in the all around and included a runner-up finish of 9.45 on floor, a season-best.

“She did a real nice job on floor and she did a few new things on bars (8.45) and did a pretty good job there too,” Tews said.

Abbie Conlon’s 33.775, good for 10th overall, included her best performance ever on the floor (8.7).

“If it wasn’t her best score, it was her best routine,” Tews said. “She put it all together.”

On beam, Kailey Alber led the team with an 8.675, just slightly ahead of Hillerud’s 8.65, putting them fourth and fifth, respectively.

“It’s one of those routines that should score well if she puts it together and she did a nice job there,” Tews said of Alber.

On bars, the Blue Jays went 5-7-7-10 with Kaiann Arellano’s 8.55 leading the way. Alexis Triebenbach and Hillerud each had 8.45s and Conlon 8.4

Scoring was typically spread out. Madison Mandan was tied for ninth on floor (8.825).

Hannah Schiele’s 32.250 was the only other all-around score for Jamestown.

“It was kind of typical in that we had scoring kind of spread out amongst the girls,” Tews said. “All in all it was a pretty good day for us.”

Valley City (140.400) was the only team ahead of the Blue Jays. Fargo Davies (135.925) was third.

The Blue Jays’ final regular-season meet is here on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. The West Region meet is Feb. 21 in Dickinson.
