Indians, Rockets to meet

Fifth-ranked Four Winds-Minnewaukan and New Rockford-Sheyenne will meet for the District 7 tournament title on Monday night in Devils Lake after comfortable semifinal wins on Friday.

Trayvon McKay poured in 30 points as the Indians rolled past Lakota-Edmore 91-50. Hadley Smith sank six 3-pointers and added 24 points.

New Rockford-Sheyenne outscored Harvey-Wells County 32-14 in the second half and pulled away 59-43.

Ethan Haley (17) and Kaleb Haley (14) combined for 31 points for the Rockets. Ethan also had 10 rebounds and four assists.

Jason Beck topped the Hornets with 14 points. Andrew Alveshere added 11.

In loser-out play, Carrington downed Midkota-Kensal 71-50. No other information on the game was provided.

In region-qualifiers on Monday, Lakota-Edmore and Carrington square off at 4 p.m. The other features Harvey-Wells County and Warwick.

District 1 Oakes 58, Hankinson 51

Oakes won its first-round District 1 tournament game on its home floor, beating Hankinson 58-51.

Coach Brandon Bata’s Tornadoes got 22 points from Bryce Meehl and 17 from Ethan Zetocha in the win.

The Tornadoes overcame a slow five-point first quarter.

Grady Mauch led Hankinson with 17 points. Bailey Hernandez added 15.
