Bantam A posts unbeaten weekend

The Jamestown-Valley City Prowl Bantam A hockey team turned in an unbeaten weekend.

In the opener, the Prowl skated to a 5-all tie with the Grand Forks Wheatkings.

Lyndon Orr netted two goals. Alex Senf, Corey Nelson and Tate Sufficool scored once each. Assists were credited to Orr, Nelson, Senf, Jace Thompson and Michael Mahoney. Goalie Riley Gerhardt was bombarded with 61 shots, stopping 56 of them.

In the second game of the weekend, the Prowl pulled out a 6-5 overtime win over Devils Lake.

Thompson and Nelson lit the lamp twice each. Orr and Sufficool also registered goals. Easton Hagen, Cody Burkle, Nelson, Thompson, Senf and Orr earned assists. Gerhardt turned away 28 of 33 shots he faced.

Bantam B drops pair

The Jamestown-Valley City Prowl Bantam B hockey team was beaten twice last weekend.

In the opener, the Prowl fell to Fargo Freeze Gold 8-2.

Alex Stockert and Logan Staloch accounted for the JVC goals. Alex Tostenson and Tommy Gunderson earned assists. Goalie Brode Hillstrom finished with 42 saves.

On Sunday, the Prowl fell to Fargo Freeze Green 12-0. Hillstrom stopped 42 shots.

Cabin Fever Days Feb. 3-12

Cabin Fever Days are scheduled for Feb. 3-12.

Youth basketball program planned

The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a six-week basketball program for boys in grades 1-4.

The league runs from Jan. 21-Feb. 25, held on Saturday mornings. Cost is $20. Deadline to register is Friday. Cost after the deadline is $30.
