'B' VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Thunder top Mustangs

Medina-Pingree-Buchanan has some unfinished business to settle this season on the volleyball court.

Oakes stunned the Thunder in the opening round of last year's Region 3 tournament in Ellendale, defeating M-P-B 3-1 and ending its season at 28-3 overall. But there was a silver lining, however, as much of that team is back on the court this fall.

The Thunder improved to 4-0 Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep of South Border in Wishek.

"I think our girls can do anything they set their minds to," M-P-B coach Jacie Connell said. "They're really working hard and our experience on the court from past seasons has been a benefit to us. Our mental game is a lot better than last year."

M-P-B's senior twin towers of 6-foot-1 Taylor Sabinash and 6-3 Halle Uehran led the way Tuesday. Sabinash sent 16 kills to the floor, while Uehran tallied 15 more to help the Thunder roll 25-11, 25-14 and 25-11.

Uehran also posted six aces, while Megan Moser and Janaya Huff combined for 35 digs.

"Things are going well," Connell said. "I had a lot of subs coming in tonight and a lot of girls got playing time. It was fun."
