Area U11 team succeeds in Minn.

An area U11 girls soccer team captured the consolation championship of its pool at the NSC Fall Cup held Oct. 7-8 in Blaine, Minn. Team members, coached at Steve Attleson, are Haley Attleson, Hannah Attleson, Mylee Brandt, Gracelin Challeen, Breanna Harildstad, Aspen Humes, Jordyn Larson, McKenna Pettys, Katelyn Piehl, Lily Schulz and Belle Sjostrom.

Optimist Club honors athletes

Kaitlin Mullowney, Connor Mullowney, Kaleb Binstock and Josie Beckman were named athletes of the week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Kaitlin Mullowney, a senior on the Blue Jay girls golf team, shot a personal-best 77 on day 2 of the state girls golf tournament to finish ninth overall.

Connor Mullowney, a senior on the Blue Jay boys tennis team, went undefeated in team matches at the West Region tournament to help the Jays qualify for state. He also finished third individually.

Binstock, a junior on the University of Jamestown baseball team from Grand Forks, batted 5-for-9 with two doubles, two triples, two runs scored and an RBI in a pair of wins against Viterbo University.

Beckman, a junior on the Jimmie volleyball team from Jamestown, scored 65 assists, 26 digs and three aces to help the Jimmies go 3-0 in conference action. Beckman posted a serving percentage of 95 in 38 attempts.
