Badal to retire in February

Sherman close to big contract

Move over Darrelle Revis, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is soon to be on an island all his own.

Sherman and the Seahawks are closing in on a record contract for the brash cornerback that would pay him at least $13 million per season, CBS Sports reported. That would make Sherman, who instigated a Twitter spat with Revis about being the top cornerback in the NFL last year, the NFL’s highest-paid cover man.

Revis set the market standard last year, when he agreed to a $16 million annual salary in a unique contract arrangement with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The salary was guaranteed but included no signing bonus or incentives.
