Indians edge Twins

CLEVELAND (STX) — Mike Aviles delivered a walk-off RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning — his third hit of the game — as host Cleveland made it two straight over Minnesota.

Asdrubal Cabrera led off the ninth with a double against Casey Fien (3-1) and advanced to third on Lonnie Chisenhall’s sacrifice bunt before Aviles ripped a line drive up the middle. John Axford (1-3) worked around a two-out double and walk in the ninth to earn the victory after yielding game-winning homers in his previous two outings.

Yan Gomes homered, Michael Brantley recorded two hits and two RBIs, and Cabrera added two hits for the Indians, who won for the fourth time in six games after dropping six in a row.
