Cabin Fever Days set

Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department's Cabin Fever Days are scheduled for Feb. 2-11.

Any business or organization interested in participating is asked to fax its information to 252-3914 or email john@jamestownparskandrec.com. All Cabin Fever Days events will be put on a poster and put on the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Website.

Deadline to receive information is Jan. 17. Call John at 252-3982 for questions.

Mandatory JO volleyball meeting

A mandatory Blue Jay JO volleyball meeting for Jamestown Public School girls in grades 3-11 is scheduled for Dec. 17 (Sunday) at 7:30 p.m. in the JHS commons area.

Character champions

University of Jamestown athletes Kori Buchanan (volleyball), Matt Young (men's cross country), Cassidy Peterson (women's cross country), Arturo Martinez (men's soccer) and Lauren Sayler (women's soccer) were named North Star Athletic Association fall sports Champions of Character.

Through the Champions of Character program, the NAIA and NSAA schools provide training for student-athletes and professional development for coaches and staff by emphasizing the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

The players awarded best exemplify those core values. Each fall sports coach in the conference nominated a recipient for the award.

Grade school boys basketball

Jamestown Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a six-week basketball program for boys in grades 1-4. Games will be played Saturday mornings Jan. 27 through March 3.

Registration forms are available at the Jamestown Parks and Rec. office (1002, 2nd Ave. SE) or at www.jamestownparksandrec.com and have been delivered to schools. Return the form and $20 fee by Jan. 19.

The fee increases to $30 after the deadline. Call John at 252-3982 for more info.
