Blue Jay swimming splits on Saturday

Jamestown High School girls swimming and diving defeated Grand Forks Red River 99-76.5 on Saturday, but fell to Grand Forks Central by a score of 98-82 in a double-dual at the JHS Pool.

The Jays’ Kenzie Carlson qualified for state in the 50-meter freestyle (26.61) and the 100 backstroke (1:09.97). Senior divers Nadia Netolicky and Cat Rapp both qualified for state in diving with scores of 172.85 and 155.7, respectively.

Sophomore Jordyn Mewes won the 100 butterfly (1:12.05), shaving 18 seconds off her seed time. Netolicky’s score in diving also gave her the event win.

Mewes, Tyler Alonge, Chea Baugh and Carlson teammed to win the 200 medley relay by three seconds over Central.

Jamestown’s next meet will be Sept. 6 on the road against Fargo South.
