Great River Energy's Spiritwood Station, the power plant under construction near Spiritwood, has begun ramping up to more than 600 workers. Construction officials are hoping to get back on the original schedule, which has a completion date of March 31. The winter and spring weather slowed construction of the plant by about two months, but the summer weather has helped get it closer to the schedule.

Officials stand next to the turbine Thursday that was transported to the Great River Energy plant in Spiritwood. About 11 workers have been on the road from Houston for three weeks transporting the structure. A combined trailer length of 300 feet with about 50 4-wheel axles and three semi-tractors were used to push and pull the unit. The combined weight of the entire trailer system and cargo was an estimated 1 million pounds.
