Members of the seventh-grade Alpha House at the Jamestown Middle School let out a roar Thursday during the annual Penny Drive. The Alpha House was a first-time winner in the 21 years of the drive. Nearly $10,000 was raised this year for a running total of nearly $150,000. Money is raised and is usually used to help offset medical costs for three individuals or organizations. John M. Jamestown Middle School students shuck corn Friday as part of the Farm-to-School program. About 250 ears of corn, from the Scott and Gwen Dubord gardens, were cleaned and will be prepared to eat on Monday.
