BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A drilling services company says it has set a goal of hiring 300 employees to work in North Dakota by spring. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Nuverra Environmental Solutions Inc. says it is “launching a massive hiring blitz over the holidays” and will continue to search for qualified candidates until all positions are filled. Nuverra, together with its subsidiaries including Power Fuels, has nearly 2,700 employees in 26 states.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Fargo fire officials say residents and pets were able to escape an early morning house fire that was contained to attic space. Firefighters arriving at the house about 3:30 a.m. found heavy smoke coming from the attic vents. The home's residents, five dogs and a cat were able to get out before crews controlled the fire.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A travel alert is in effect issued for the north central region of North Dakota, as strong winds are causing blowing snow and areas of near zero visibility. The North Dakota Department of Transportation issued the alert Monday night for an area including the cities of Garrison, Berthold, Towner, Harvey, Minot, Kenmare, Bottineau and surrounding areas.
