Making friends is an important part of child development. Parents can be helpful in coaching their children to treat people in a friendly manner, arranging play dates and staying nearby to help kids learn social skills. The following is a scenario in which parents could have helped children make friends:
Do you take your lunch to work or school? Packing your own healthy lunch has many benefits. The cost of purchasing lunch each day can add up. By bringing your own coffee, breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages every day, you can save from $2,000 to $3,000 during the span of a year. If you pack healthy snacks, you may not feel tempted to go to the vending machine or coffee shop when hunger strikes in the middle of the afternoon. A healthy snack also will help boost your energy between meals and satisfy your hunger.

What exactly is financial exploitation? Financial exploitation occurs when someone illegally or improperly uses an older adult’s money or belongings for his or her personal use. Financial exploitation is the fastest growing type of elder abuse. The number of reported cases of financial exploitation in North Dakota related to the growth in oil-related income among many older residents has increased. However, this type of abuse usually is not reported. Research estimates that at least 20 percent of adults age 65 and older have been victimized by financial fraud and abuse.
Do you know your blood pressure? If you have high blood pressure, you are at greater risk for stroke and heart attacks because your heart has to work harder. High blood pressure also may damage the health of your eyes, brain and kidneys. It’s often called the “silent killer” because you may not have any symptoms.
