BEMIDJI, Minn.—The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is boosting the amount of timber harvestable annually from state lands, according to a news release. Officials said Thursday, March 1, that, based on new data, a harvest of 870,000 cords can be offered for sale annually from DNR-managed forest lands in the next 10 years. The amount represents an 8.75 percent increase in the harvest target from the 800,000 cord sales target for the past 15 years.
BAGLEY, Minn.—The first in a series of 20-plus public meetings on Enbridge Energy's proposed Line 3 oil pipeline replacement project was Tuesday, June 6, at the Rice Lake Community Center near Bagley. The Minnesota Department of Commerce is conducting the meetings during the public comment, review period for a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed pipeline to run across north-central Minnesota. The new pipeline will replace the existing Line 3, which will be deactivated and abandoned.
BEMIDJI, Minn. — The average price of gas has been falling locally and nationally and experts say the trend is likely to continue — at least for a couple more months. In Bemidji, the average price per gallon comes to $1.77, similar to other Minnesota cities. In Duluth, the cost is $1.79, Rochester is at $1.76, St. Cloud is at $1.78 and the Twin Cities comes in the lowest at $1.72.
