Bert Raymond "The Grinch" Hall, 42, Kensal, N.D., died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Mr. Hall was born April 8, 1968, at Elkhart, Ind., the son of Charles and Patricia (Swank) Hall. He moved with his mother to Kensal in 1981. He graduated in 1986 from Kensal High School. He worked for OK Tire and Dakota Growers Pasta Company, both Carrington, N.D., and on a farm near Kensal.
Gordon "Skip" Glaspell, 68, Fargo, ND, formerly of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at his home in Fargo. Gordon was born December 20, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of B. Gordon and Orla (Ringuette) Glaspell. He attended Jamestown High School graduating in 1961. Skip was involved in football, track and wrestling. He worked on the family farm for many years. Skip had various jobs in Jamestown before moving to Fargo in 1999 and retiring. He lived at Pioneer Manor in Fargo until his passing.
Clara Charron, 94, Wishek, N.D., died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Wishek Home for the Aged, Wishek. Clara Moe was born March 4, 1917, at Bygland, Minn., the daughter of Olf and Lydia (Groshong) Moe. She grew up at Byland where she attended school and helped on the family farm. She married Lloyd H. Charron on July 7, 1945, at New London, Conn. They lived in Grand Forks, N.D., and moved to the Minot, N.D., area in 1960. She was a cook at the Head Start Program and at the public school in the area. She moved to Wishek in 1999. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek.
Mildred Lang, 64, Napoleon, N.D., died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck, N.D. Mildred Craig was born Nov. 23, 1946, at Napoleon, the daughter of Ray and Amelia (Wiest) Craig.. She grew up and attended country school in the Napoleon area. She married Gilbert Lang on Dec. 12, 1964, at Napoleon. They farmed in the Tappen, N.D., area. They moved into Napoleon in 2010. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon.
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Legendary jazz drummer Joe Morello, whose virtuosity and command of odd time signatures made him an integral part of the Dave Brubeck Quartet on such classic recordings as "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk," has died at age 82. Family members said Morello died Saturday at his home in northern New Jersey.

Clarence Robert Wegenast, 87, of Grand Island, Nebraska, formerly of Edgeley, N.D., died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 18, 2011 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Interment will be in the Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil, Nebraska. The Reverend Harvey Johnson and Ryan Wegenast will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Clara Schweitzer, 85, Harvey, N.D., died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey. Clara was born July 4, 1925, on a farm near Kintyre, N.D., the daughter of Pius and Juliana (Schmidt) Reis. She grew up and attended rural school near Kintyre. She attended high school in Napoleon, N.D., for a year and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School, Bismarck, N.D., on May 29, 1944. She worked as a receptionist for a Bismarck doctor for 17 years. She completed correspondence courses from the Chicago School of Nursing. She married John Schweitzer on May 24, 1950, in Bismarck.
Violet Gruebele, 87, Pettibone, N.D., died Friday, March 11, 2011 at MedCenter One Hospital, Bismarck, N.D., from complications following surgery. Violet Schmidt was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Frettim Township, Kidder County, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Kassman) Schmidt. She married Ludwig "Louie" Gruebele on April 23, 1946, in Steele, N.D.
