Eugene "Eli" Whitney, 68, died May 9, 2011 at Innovis Health, Fargo, ND. Eugene was born December 21, 1942 in Jamestown, ND to George and Annamae Whitney. He attended Jamestown High School and graduated in 1960. He then went to Wahpeton State School of Science majoring in linotype printing, and graduated in 1962. He began his printing career in Jamestown. Eugene married Doreene Engstrom in Carrington, in June 1965 and lived in Jamestown and numerous cities and states throughout their marriage. He served in the North Dakota National Guard for 6 years.
Rodney Allen Hanson finished his good fight and entered his reward May 7, 2011, surrounded by family. His fight was long but his life was defined by his faith and tenacity, rather than his illness. He was born on October 2, 1949 to Arnold and Gladys Hanson in Minot, North Dakota. He was brought up on a dairy and grain farm and raised pigs and hogs for 4-H. While in high school he played baseball, basketball, and track. He was valedictorian of Montpelier High School in 1967. Rod graduated from NNC in 1971 with a history teaching degree.

Keith Allen Himmerich, 49, son of Norma (Buerkle) Himmerich and the late Duane Himmerich, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 in his home from health complications due to Sturge-Weber Syndrome. Harold Giesler, 81, Kulm, N.D., died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale, N.D. Mr. Giesler was born March 19, 1930, at Merricourt, N.D., the son of Henry and Johanna (Goehner) Giesler. He grew up and attended school in rural Merricourt. He married Edna Franz on Dec. 29, 1951, at Merricourt. They farmed on his parents' farm for five years. They purchased the Gottieb and Sophia Herman farm east of Kulm in 1956. They farmed there until 1984. They moved into Kulm. He entered the Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale, on March 5, 2009.
