Opal Lawrence, 89, Jamestown, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown. Opal Evelyn Hooge was born Feb. 21, 1921, at Gwinner, N.D., the daughter of Clarence and Ida (Anderson) Hooge. She graduated from Wahpeton High School in May 1939. She was employed at Rose Meade Pottery. She married Dana Lawrence on Oct. 4, 1941, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. They lived in Jamestown. She was a member of Good Sams Club, homemakers and First United Methodist Church.

Alton "Al" Deutscher, 79, Jamestown, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown. Mr. Deutscher was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Gackle, N.D., the son of Gustaf and Amelia (Hust) Deutscher. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural Gackle schools. He married Ella Gumke on Nov. 12, 1950, in Gackle. They farmed northwest of Gackle until 1962, when they moved to Jamestown. He worked for Melland Builders until 1980, when he started Al's Overhead Doors, which he operated until his death.

Earl Martin Eggert, 87, Jamestown, formerly of Valley City and Dazey, N.D., died Monday, June 7, 2010, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown. Mr. Eggert was born July 5, 1922, in Valley City, the son of John and Alma (Johnson) Eggert. He grew up and attended school at Grand Prairie School. In 1945, he entered the U.S. Army and served until his discharge in 1947. He married Beverly Jean Short in 1947, at her family farm near Dazey. He farmed with his father-in-law. After the farm was sold, they moved into Dazey and he worked for Arnold Hammersmith as a carpenter.

Albert Morlock, 72, Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Carrington, N.D., died Jan. 3, 2010, surrounded by family. Mr. Morlock was born March 4, 1937, in Carrington, the son of Martin and Emma (Bossart) Morlock. He attended high school at the School for the Blind in Bathgate, N.D. He graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, in 1961. He moved to Minnesota where he worked for the Minnesota State Services for the Blind as a management coordinator. He retired after 26 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Herb; and a sister, Lorraine Kollman. Burial: 11 a.m.

Joan Keyes, 71, James-town, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown. Joan C. Duven was born July 23, 1938, in Jamestown, the daughter of Elmer and Mildred (Holand) Duven. She was baptized on Oct. 9, 1938, at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Marion, N.D. She attended and graduated from Marion High School, Marion, in 1956. She married Dick Keyes on June 27, 1957. They lived in Jamestown. She worked for Sears & Roebuck, North Dakota State Hospital and Otter Tail Power Co., until she retired. They managed the Lakeside Marina & Campground, Jamestown, for many years.
